Decarbonization & Sustainable Operations

Decarbonization & Sustainable Operations

Together for a green future

At NovaTaste we aim to reduce our environmental impact and transition our business to a low carbon future.

We are focusing on efforts on direct and indirect emissions of our own operations (scope 1 and 2 according to the GHG protocol), in particular on green energy and heating and cooling optimization. Scope 3 supplier engagement for our hot spot purchased goods and more broadly across logistics, waste and packaging is our parallel focus and commitment with clear action areas near-, mid- and long-term to 2034, 2040 & 2050. This is based on our corporate carbon footprint baseline year 2024.

Developing a robust transition plan will enable us to set a target that allows us to work together towards a common goal, with prioritized and budgeted initiatives for decarbonization

Our objectives regarding decarbonization are to

  • address investor, customer and other stakeholder needs and value creation opportunities of a low-carbon future
  • increase NovaTaste resilience to climate risks along our value chain
  • have a clear year-on-year plan to drive long-term carbon reduction targets
  • ensure compliance with EU & global regulations for environmental initiatives

We recognize our responsibility to positively contribute to the environment in which we operate by driving sustainable development and promoting environmental stewardship.

We are committed to fully integrating the ambitions laid out in our sustainability strategy into our business practices as well as meeting our legal & regulatory obligations.

Some of our production sites have already installed the environmental management system according to ISO 14001. Furthermore, German sites will be certified according to EMAS by mid-2025. This will cover 90% of their total final energy consumption.

All NovaTaste Production sites are SEDEX members and the locations in Germany and Austria are audited according to SMETA 4 Pillar.

On Site: Cooling and heating in Northern Mexico

As part of our sustainable operations and decarbonization efforts globally, we are optimizing cooling and heating equipment and processes. An example is a multi-year initiative in our production facilities in Northern Mexico. We are retrofitting insulation and equipment casing to reduce emissions and manage to zero refrigerants. These environmentally-friendly practice and best practice safety methods will be scaled across other sites.
